Michael C Dunford ALCM
Michael started his playing career at the age of 7 on the soprano cornet with Amesbury Town Band, joining Shrewton 2 years later. In July 1978 he left school for a career in military music. Trained at Kneller Hall he has performed in many countries including Japan, Hong Kong, Egypt, USA and Canada and such venues as Wembley Stadium, the Royal Albert Hall, Buckingham Palace, the Pentagon and Las Vegas.
1994 saw Michael’s return to Salisbury Plain at Tidworth, from where, now playing the Euphonium, he was soon able to renew his acquaintance with Shrewton Silver Band. Here he remained until he retired in June 2002 after 24 years of service.
Since taking the baton for Shrewton in 1998, Michael has guided them from the fourth section both locally and nationally to the championship section locally and 2nd section nationally, including reaching the 3rd section National finals twice!
He holds a Diploma of Associate of the London College of Music & Media (ALCM) and is a member of the National Association of Brass Band Conductors (NABBC).
Michael is now settled in Amesbury with family, Amanda, Ben and Joe.
